Salinity

Salinity and Sodium Content Measurement

Two meters are available which make readings directly without the need to add any reagents.   Both use an Sodium ISE (Ion selective electrode, FC 300B).  Automatic calibration is achieved at one or two points.  A temperature compensating sensor (HI 7662) covers a range of 0.0 to 80.0ºC. 

The each meter weigh 1.1 pounds and measures 7.7" x 3.1" x 2.4".   A large plastic case and batteries (not pictured) are included.  The case will also hold  both the sodium and temperature probes which must be purchased separately. 

Depending upon how the data is expressed, users can select one of the following meters:

The Salinity meter (HI 931100) will measure salt content (as NaCl):

• 0.150 to 1.500 g/l
• 1.50 to 15.00 g/l
• 15.0 to 150.0 g/l
• 150 to 300 g/l.

The Sodium meter (HI 931101) reads directly as concentration of sodium (Na):

• 15.0 - 150.0 mg/l Na
• 0.150 - 1.500 g/l
• 1.50 - 15.00 g/l
• 15.0 - 60.0 g/l
• potential of sodium (pNa) 0.00 to 3.00
