Portable Conductivity Meters
Hanna Instruments Conductivity Meter: HI
98188
The new HI 98188
Conductivity-Resistivity-Salinity Meter has an extended range from ultra pure
water 0.001 micro Siemens to very concentrated solutions of 400 milli Siemens.
The meter will also read directly using the mega-ohm scale or in the TDS mode it
will read in mg/l or g/l. To complete the versatility, the meter will also
read using a seawater scale. The display has an optional backlight for
greater visibility. The meter is also designed to exceed USP <645>
regulations with modes for Stage 1, 2 and 3. Log on demand and automatic
interval data logging features storage of 400 sample points with time/date
stamping. The USB port allows downloading to a computer with Hanna 92000
software. Users can then also use Excel®
to graph data. The large
graphical LCD display will allow storage of user profiles and can display an
on-screen help guide showing instructions. The advanced glass and
platinum probe is protected with an Ultem®
sleeve. The displayed measurement is auto-ranging, of course.
Automatic calibration can be performed from the keypad at up to five points
using seven memorized standards and one or two temperature points. The
reference temperature may be adjusted by the user as well as disabling the
automatic temperature compensation. Rechargeable batteries are installed
in a rubberized "military" case which is totally waterproof (IP67). An
inductive charger is included to recharge the installed batteries. This
meter is shipped with a foam padded hard plastic travel case. We can't
heap enough praise on this product. We have tested it in many different
solutions and used the variety of its features. Compared to every other meter we
have ever used from any manufacturer, it stands alone.

Article: Conductivity Measurement
Another versatile meter we carry is the
HI 9835.
It is a work horse which will measure pure DI water and highly concentrated
brines without the need for recalibration.
Other models are the HI 9033,
HI 933300 (with printer), HI 99300,
HI 99301 and the DIST 7(see below). While not as full
featured as the 9835, they all are waterproof and have useful ranges. In
addition to these, we also have pocket testers such as the DIST 5.
HI 9835 Key features:
- Waterproof case
- Auto-ranging (meter finds best resolution and scale)

- Ranges from 0.01 to 500,000μS/cm
- Automatic temperature compensation (ATC)
- Selectable scales:
- EC (µS/cm)
- TDS (ppm)
- NaCl
- Displays both conductivity and temperature
- ATC may be switched to manual or disabled for actual
EC
- Pushbutton calibration with memorized standards
- Scalable TDS factor
- Four ring advanced technology probe w/1m cable
included
- Carrying case included
- Batteries (4 x 1.5v AA) included
- Auto-off feature (can be disabled)
- Weight: 18oz (500g)
- Dimensions: 7.7" x 3.1" x 2.4"
The top of the line probe used in the above instrument
is very important. The 4-Ring potentiometric design is the most accurate
method for conductivity measurement and prevents polarization. Because it
does not suffer from electrolysis it can measure a broader range. The
rings are made from platinum which can resist higher temperatures. All of
the meters we sell use probes of this design.

HI 933300 Data Logging Conductivity Meter
with Built-in Printer

This meter is designed to bring lab grade performance
and accuracy anywhere in the plant or even out for field work. The user
can print a permanent, indisputable record of the measured data at any time for
record keeping, trouble shooting or compliance purposes.
The printing interval is selectable from 1-180 minutes.
When the logging mode is activated, the meter records the conductivity and
temperature measurements. These data points can be printed directly or at
a later date. The meter can store up to 8,000 measurements. The data
may also be downloaded to a computer with an optional accessory.
The meter includes a 4-ring technology probe with a
built-in temperature sensor, 5 paper rolls, batteries and a rugged carrying
case.

DIST 5 Pocket Tester for
Conductivity
With specifications identical to the DIST 7, this
tester is packaged in a pocket form. As with the tester above, this meter
is also waterproof. It actually floats in water.
