HACCP and Food Quality pH Meters
Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points program
requirements for the Food Industry dictate monitoring of pH, temperature and
other factors in food production and storage areas. Hanna Instruments has
specifically designed pH meters to achieve these goals. Good Laboratory
Practice (GLP) technology is also built into many of these products. Many
of these instruments have built in printers and or data logging capabilities to
satisfy record keeping requirements. To learn more about how the role pH
plays in food production, a short article is included in the "Tech Info" section
of this website: "pH
and Food Quality."
We highly recommend using a bench meter: Hanna
Instruments
Calibration Check pH meter with or without an
attached printer (HI 120 or HI 122). In every case, please check with MBH
Engineering Systems engineers to insure that you get the proper electrode for
your application.
Two portable meters shown below are also good choices
for this application. Other instrumentation for the Food Industry
includes:
salinity, temperature and
humidity monitoring. Specialized equipment is also shown on
this website for the wine industry.

Conic Tip for Use
in Semisolids Such as Meat & Cheese
HI 99161s
waterproof casing provides excellent
protection from water and humidity, typically present in the food
industry. HI 99161 is supplied with the FC 202D pH electrode with
built-in temperature sensor, specially designed for use in the food
sector. This electrode features a rugged, easy to clean, PVDF® body
that tapers to a strong conic tip ideal for measurements in semisolids
such as meats and cheeses. The electrode has a free diffusion sleeve
type reference junction which prevents the typical problems of
clogging in viscous liquids or samples with high solids content such
as milk or condiments. The electrolyte used in the FC 202D electrode
is free from the poisonous silver chloride, which prevents food
contamination by the electrode. HI 99161 allows automatic calibration
at either NIST or standard buffer sets with auto recognition and a
stability indicator. The temperature is continuously displayed on the
secondary level of the large LCD. The meter runs on common 1.5 AA type
batteries and the LCD provides a low battery warning signal.
HI 99161 is supplied with FC 202D pH electrode, pH 4 & pH 7 buffer
sachets, HI 700642 cleaning solution (2 x 20 ml), batteries, rugged
carrying case and instructions. |

protection secures GLP data
The top-of-the-line HI 98230 and HI 98240 pH meters offer many
advanced features engineered into a highly portable meter, with the
added advantage of having a built-in plain paper printer, logging and
log-on-demand. Featuring GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) capabilities,
these instruments incorporate the HANNA instruments®
intelligent electrode
technology. All these features make HI 98230 and HI 98240 ideal for on
site as well as field laboratories. HI 98230 and HI 98240 are the
perfect solution for any application where pH measurements need to be
recorded. In fact, data can be stored or printed directly on demand or
automatically. The stored data (up to 100 measurements on-demand and
up to 1500 automatically) can also be downloaded to a PC with a
standard RS232 serial connection and Hanna’s
infrared adapter and
HI 92000 Windows® compatible software (not included), which permits
the transfer of data to other programs.
HI 98230 and HI 98240 are supplied complete with HI 1618D smart pH
electrode with internal temperature sensor, pH 4 and pH 7 buffer
sachets, electrode cleaning solution, 5 paper rolls, batteries, 12 Vdc
power adapter, rugged carrying case and instructions. |
