For instance, if  conventional colorimetric or reflective methods have been used to establish  sulfur dioxide (SO₂)concentration, this wine titrator will significantly  improve the accuracy of the test.  Universities have shown how those  methods often overstate the concentration and can have variable results even when testing the exact same wine.  This error is compounded when analyzing red wines.  The resulting error may ruin a batch of wine or compromise its quality.  Either way the economic consequences are not attractive.  The answer is a wine auto-titrator such one of the series produced by Hanna Instruments.  The 900 series wine titrator has accuracy and precision (repeatability) which is needed for all measurements, not just sulfur dioxide (SO₂).  Because the instrument relies on potentiometric methods not color, red wine can be tested just like white wines without dilution or sample manipulation.  We have test procedures for about twenty five parameters using this instrument.  Many winemakers and labs are already using this wine titrator to take advantage of these improvements.
